Yoga in Wimbledon Village
I teach yoga in Wimbledon and I am a Senior Yoga Teacher certified by Yoga Alliance Professionals and The British Wheel of Yoga. In addition, I am a Certified Pregnancy Yoga Teacher, having trained with Uma Dinsmore-Tulli. I am also a certified Menopause Yoga Teacher, having completed Petra Coveney's Menopause Yoga Teacher Training Course.
I've been teaching yoga since 2008 and practicing since 1997. I came to yoga whilst pregnant with my second daughter and my love for it has grown ever since. As a mother of two children (now grown up), I have first-hand experience of how yoga can help in the transition to motherhood and beyond!
My teaching style is focussed on breath awareness and alignment in each posture, with slow flow vinyasa sequences incorporated in my classes. This will help you to gain strength, flexibility, and reduce stress.
I teach online group classes as well as private classes and I am based in Wimbledon Village. All classes have a strong focus on movement with the breath, and mindfulness is part of the entire practice.
Holding The British Wheel of Yoga Accredited Teaching Diploma, I completed a teacher training course with Triyoga, studying under the guidance of Susannah Hoffman and Jeff Phenix.
In addition to my training in London, I have practiced and studied yoga in India, the spiritual home of yoga. There I did my 300 hour Advanced Vinyasa Flow Yoga Teacher Training with Frog Lotus Yoga.
I completed a further 300 hour Advanced Teacher Training with celebrated Buddhist chaplain, Cyndi Lee and became a qualified mindfulness meditation teacher under Cyndi’s tutelage.
Another of my treasured teachers is Max Strom author of A Life Worth Breathing. I trained with Max for over 10 years, and continue to work with him. In 2018, I completed Max's Inner Axis Teacher training, the focus of which is healing trauma through breath work.
I taught at Triyoga, one of London’s premium yoga studios between 2018 and 2020.
“I have been practising yoga with Serena for the last 10 years and I find her style of yoga totally holistic. Not only does the body feel calm after practice but the mind too. Serena is a true Yogi - calm, kind and spiritual”

About Yoga
The word Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word 'yuj' which means to yoke, join or unite. This implies joining or integrating different aspects of the individual. The body unites with the mind and the mind with the soul to achieve a happy, balanced life. When we practice vinyasa yoga we place the body in a special way with the breath cultivating a sense of mindful awareness. According to the yogic Scriptures, practising yoga leads to the union of individual and universal consciousness, bringing perfect harmony, and helping us to become the best possible versions of ourselves.
Yoga is not a religion. It is nonsectarian and compatible with all religions.
It is a scientific system of mental and physical practices that originated in India at least 3000 years ago. Yoga helps each one of us to achieve our highest potential and to experience long-lasting health and happiness. By practising yoga we can extend our healthy years and improve the quality of our lives.
The branch of Yoga that I base my teaching on is called Hatha yoga. We combine this with a slow, sustainable vinyasa, moving with the breath , which helps to align the vertebrae, increases flexibility, and strengthens muscles and connective tissue. Yoga also works on a deeper level, toning the internal organs, balancing the nervous system and nourishing and stimulating brain cells. This can result in increased mental clarity, emotional stability, and a greater sense of well-being.
